| The Calvert County Department of Economic
Development announced today that on July 20, 2003, the Calvert
County Agriculture Commission would conduct their annual Calvert
County Farm Tour. Three Calvert County farms will open to the public
from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: (1) Pin Oak Farm, 8855 Mackall Rd., St.
Leonard; (2) Spider Hall Farm, 3915 Hallowing Point Rd., Prince
Frederick; (3) Eagles Ridge Ranch, 4970 Balls Graveyard Rd., Port
Republic.
Spend a day in Calvert County touring a variety of farms and learn
about Calvert’s traditional agricultural community. Tours are free
and visitors can purchase fruits, vegetables, baked goods, dried
flowers, perennials and more. Parking is available and entertainment
will be provided at each farm at various times throughout the day. No
pets are allowed except seeing-eye dogs.
This is the sixth consecutive year the Farm Tour has been
presented. The 2003 Farm Tour is coordinated by the Calvert County
Department of Economic Development and the Calvert County Agricultural
Commission. The Agriculture Commission conducts the Farm Tour to
educate Calvert residents about traditional farming and to provide the
public with an opportunity to interact with the farming community.
The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners provides funding
for the Farm Tour. Farm Tour brochures are available from all three Calvert County
information centers (Fairview, North Beach and Solomons). Click here to view
the brochure in .pdf
format (Adobe Acrobat
Reader required) including farm descriptions, directions
and scheduled activities for each location. For more information, please contact the Calvert County
Department of Economic Development at (410) 535-4583 or (301)
855-1880.
