Calvert County Agriculture Commission
Poster Contest Press Release

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- March 28, 2000 -- The Calvert County Agriculture Commission announced today the winners of its 2000 annual Agriculture/Farm Poster Contest. In this year’s competition, 7th grade students from five different schools submitted over 300 posters under the theme, "The Many Crops of Calvert County." Through the poster contest, the Agriculture Commission hopes to focus attention on the changing face of agriculture in Calvert County. Calvert County farms currently produce over 40 different types of crops and livestock.

This year’s winners were recognized and congratulated by the County Commissioners at their March 28th meeting. The winners are: *Plum Point Middle School – Angie Wolfgang (Grand Prize), Kelleye Cooper (First place), Logan Thompson (Second place), Matthew Spring (Third place). *Northern Middle School – Heather Gilbert (First place), Lisa Fleig (Second place), Marisa Graves (Third place). *Calvert Middle School – Antonia McFadden (First place), Kyle Dvorsky (Second place), Zachary Klares (Third place). *Windy Hill Middle School – Amber Mullins (First place), Darlene Rodriguez (Second place), Rebecca Vogt (Third place). *Calverton School – Chris Gateau (First place).

Winners will receive savings bond awards and the Grand Champion poster will appear on the cover of the Calvert County Fair Exhibitor and Premium Book.

The Agriculture Commission would like to thank all of the participating teachers who gave their time and energy to assure the success of the contest.
