Sheriff Department Pension Plan Board of Trustees

Overview

The County adopted the Calvert County Sheriff's Department Pension Plan effective July 1, 1989, for the benefit of its eligible employees; and the assets of the Plan shall be held in trust for the exclusive purposes of providing benefits to participants in the Plan and their beneficiaries, and defraying reasonable expenses of administering the Plan and the Trust.

Composition

The Trustees shall consist of nine members appointed by the BOCC to include the following:

  • Two employee plan member representatives (one deputy sheriff and one correctional officer.)
  • County Administrator or his/her designee 
  • Director of Human Resources or his/her designee
  • Director of Finance and Budget or his/her designee 
  • One retired employee plan member
  • Three citizens who have financial expertise and are not county employees or members of the Board of County Commissioners
  • The term of the employee representatives and citizen members shall be three years.

Open Meetings

  • Meets Quarterly in February, May, August, and November
  • Additional meetings are scheduled as necessary
