Tell us about your farm.

Dahlia & Vine Flower Farm is a small, family-run specialty cut flower farm in Calvert County, Maryland. We grow seasonal, sustainably raised blooms with a focus on dahlias, tulips, ranunculus, and other seasonal specialty flowers. Our farm includes a charming on-site farm shop, bouquet subscriptions, workshops, and wedding and event florals. Our goal is to connect people with locally grown blooms (and the farmer who grew them!), educate our community on the importance of buying local, and provide a beautiful space to gather and share.

What are you most proud of as a farmer/forester/waterwoman?

I am most proud of building a thriving farm from the ground up while staying true to sustainable growing practices and the heart and style behind our farm & brand. I’m especially proud of the strong relationships I’ve built with customers and local businesses, and of creating a space where people feel connected to flowers, farming, and nature. Watching something grow from a tiny seed or bulb into a meaningful part of someone’s celebration never gets old!

What do you like about farming in Calvert County?

Calvert County has an incredibly supportive agricultural community and a strong appreciation for local farms. I love the balance of rural charm and close-knit connections, as well as the opportunity to work alongside other passionate growers and small businesses. Our customers truly care about where their products come from, which makes farming here especially rewarding!

Tell us about the many hats you wear, such as volunteering, working off the farm, on a board, your role in your family, or something else.

As a flower farmer and small business owner, I wear many hats every day. I am the grower, designer, marketer, bookkeeper, educator, and face of the farm - often all in the same afternoon. In the off-season, I balance farm life with picking up shifts at a local hospital, using my background as a former full-time neurosurgery physician assistant. One of the most beautiful parts of owning my own business, and having such a supportive and understanding customer base, is being able to shape my work around my season of life - which is truly the whole point. I also run workshops, manage collaborations, and oversee events and weddings, while holding one of my most important roles: being a wife and mom to my young family!
