Southern Maryland Center for Independent Living, Inc. (SMCIL) is a non-residential, non-profit community based human service agency focused on providing services and advocacy to empower individuals living with disabilities to lead self-directed, independent and productive lives in their community of choice in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties.
SMCIL envisions a society in which individuals with disabilities are valued equally and participate fully. SMCIL advocates for equal opportunities for all and is driven by the needs and desires of those who may need support.

The Maryland Coalition of Families (MCF) supports families caring for individuals with behavioral health needs. Drawing from personal experiences as parents, caregivers, and loved ones, MCF connects, empowers and uplifts Maryland's families. Their staff offers one-on-one support to parents and caregivers of young people facing mental health challenges, as well as to anyone supporting someone with substance use or gambling issues.
MCF empowers parents, caregivers, youth and other loved ones by:
Helping them navigate services and systems Providing them with tools to advocate Connecting parents, caregivers, young people and other loved ones to each other Ensuring their voice and perspective is heard Raising public awareness and fighting stigma

PFLAG provides support for LGBTQ+ families through monthly peer-to-peer groups and social events. The organization educates the Southern Maryland community on LGBTQ+ issues through various educational events, collaborations with local institutions, and participation in community events. PFLAG also advocates for inclusive policies and practices within local government, businesses, healthcare and educational institutions.
