The Department of Parks & Recreation is in the business of planning, developing, implementing and professionally managing the parks, programs, policies and procedures, facilities, special events and leisure services established under the leadership of the Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator, Parks Administration and the associated advisory boards of Calvert County. This department sponsors numerous special interest activities and classes and physical activity classes. Costs vary according to activity.
The Department of Parks & Recreation cultivates programs, parks and services that positively impact quality of life; preserve natural and cultural resources; promote economic stability; and satisfy community needs for opportunities in recreation, wellness, knowledge and connecting with nature.

Calvert County Master Gardeners (CCMGs) unite with Maryland Master Gardeners in promoting a healthier world through environmental stewardship and education about effective horticultural practices.
University of Maryland Extension is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture, land-grant universities and local governments in each state. Calvert County parks total over 560 acres of land contained within 14 parks. Parks are located throughout the county offering passive and active recreation opportunities for all.
There are 48 athletic fields that can accommodate almost any sport and 30 different sport courts provide other athletic opportunities. Calvert County parks offer a variety of activities beyond sports, with something for everyone, including sightseeing, walking, picnicking and more. Additionally, there are 12 playgrounds.
A total list of services that offered are, but not limited to baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, kickball, tee ball, tennis, basketball, skate park, dog park, pickleball, playgrounds, picnic pavilions, walking, biking, concessions and restrooms.

The Art Therapy Studio was established in 2001 and remained a place for expression, discovery, validation and support. Adolescents and adults alike have explored their lives through art media and focused conversations. Drawing, painting, mask-making, clay-work, collage, etc., are means for expression and working through issues.
Ms. Haugaard (she/her) has worked with the mental health community of the greater Washington area as a professional art therapist since 1990. She is a registered art therapist with the American Art Therapy Association and is board-certified with the Art Therapy Credentials Board. As a trauma-informed therapist, Ms. Haugaard uses an existential approach to address psychodynamic issues.

Therapeutic recreation provides recreation opportunities for community members with disabilities. These opportunities include adapted swim lessons, camps, programs, special events and more!
